Cultural Study Program in Maleny（Written by Hiro Ukai）
Background of this program
Aichi Gakuin University (AGU) has conducted on the Global Internship Program for last two years since 2005. AGU evaluated that this Global Internship Program was successful. It is because students who participated in this program have changed their behavior dramatically since then.
However, the new dean of the Faculty of Management has set a new strategy to redistribute resources into the domestic program development. As a result of this decision, we had to stop recruiting students who hope to study and work abroad officially.
On the other hand, several students insist that they disappointed this decision and are still keen to have a certain experience abroad. Therefore, I (Prof. Ukai) personally have decided to create an alternative program such as “Cultural Study Program in Maleny”.
What are different from the former program?
1) No work at the office, but stay and help at the farm
2) No English class, but feel Maleny’s culture with the farmer
3) No four-week fixed stay, but flexible and customized stay based on student’s offer
What is the 2007 Summer Program?Cultural Study Program “on the Farm Stay” in Maleny!
This is the theme of 2007 Summer Program. Students who take part in this program stay at the farm, experience daily life with the farmer and understand Maleny’s culture at the end of this program. It is fact that most of students can’t speak English fluently. However, I am sure that they could feel something special Maleny has.
